In Free Gear game you can pick two modes, Quick Race and Tournament. When you racing in tournament mode , you will unlock track by track if you finish between first and third place. The controls in this game are the arrow keys for navigation and acceleration, C button is the nitro pack and P is for pause. By default, changing gear is set to automatic but you can change that in the options. If you want to change gears manual, gear up will be Z button and gear down will be X
